Every 2024 Super Rugby Pacific club jersey: Blues revive spirit of 1997 with retro kit

Super Rugby through its various guises has produced some of the most iconic kits in Australia and New Zealand.

One of them is a throwback to the jersey pictured, as worn by Blues star Carlos Spencer in 1995.

The biggest change Kiwi fans of Super Rugby Pacific will notice is switching from Adidas to Classic Sportswear.

The Hurricanes have retained their iconic yellow base for the home jersey with a subtle hurricane pattern in the design.

Like their 2023 version, the 2024 away jersey is primarily black.

This year, the team has added a more prominent swirling design that focuses on the Hurricanes logo.

There's been little in the way of change for the Waratahs between seasons.

Once again, the team will walk out in their resplendent baby blue scheme. 

The Blues have really embraced their region with their home jersey.

A silhouette of the Auckland skyline and harbour bridge feature at the bottom of the jersey.

The new kit is said to reflect the four tides that surround Auckland, namely the Manukau Harbour, Waitematā Harbour, Kaipara Harbour and the Hokianga.



Like the home kit, the away kit features the Auckland skyline silhouette.

On the arms are coloured bars that represent the three major provinces - Northland, North Harbour, and Auckland.

Perhaps the best of all three Blues jerseys is its alternative heritage kit.

The retro scheme is a nod to the Super 12-winning 1997 outfit worn by the likes of Jonah Lomu and Carlos Spencer.

The Blues enjoyed immense success in their first three years of Super 12, winning it twice and finishing runner-up once.

The Blues had to wait until 2003 to win the title again, but the memory of the 1997 campaign lives long in the minds of day-one fans.

The Melbourne Rebels have gone for a tweaked look in 2024.

The dark blue base remains with abstract elements replacing the geographic shapes of 2023.

The Melbourne Rebels' away kit is even brighter this year than last.

It's effectively a copy of the home jersey, albeit in bright pink.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

That's the mantra at the ACT Brumbies, who have made no changes to their 2024 kit.

The Crusaders enter a new era without Scott Robertson at the helm.

At the same time, the team has ditched its mountain silhouette in favour of a "new perspective".

The new jersey integrates six peaks and rivers.

The look acknowledges "a new chapter in Crusaders history," according to the club's website.

"We look down the backbone, each mountain lifting us up and taking us to new heights."

The Crusaders' away jersey is simply a reverse scheme of the home kit.

The Chiefs jersey is an intricate design featuring the huia, an extinct bird whose feathers were treasured by Māori.

Kōwhaiwhai (ornate swirls) represent waterways throughout the region.

The jersey also features taniwha, a creature from Māori lore.

Kōwhaiwhai and taniwha feature more prominently in the Chiefs' away jersey.

Per the Chiefs website, "The saying 'he piko he taniwha' (at every bend a taniwha) is represented by its many arms and legs holding onto the kōwhaiwhai.

"This symbolises how the Chiefs whānau are all connected by the waterways and collectively protected by the taniwha."

The Queensland Reds have a similar look in 2024, albeit without big-name sponsor Westpac on the chest front.

The Drua has begun forming an identity with its blue and green scheme.

The 2024 jersey isn't a massive departure from its 2023, with flowers and ferns featuring prominently.

The Western Force have gone for a slightly more dynamic design in 2024.

The blue and black base remains with a chevron across the chest.

The Western Force have ditched their horizontal stripes this year on their away kit.

Instead, the base design remains the same across home and away jerseys but with a black and yellow palette.

There's a lot to like about the Highlanders' new kit for 2024.

The revised look is simple but with added striples and a 'Classic' and 'Highlanders' logos sharing colours. 

The Highlanders have gone all-in with a "grip strip" across the front of its jersey.

if you look closely, the rubber elements are shaped like the team's Highland warrior insignia.

Moana Pasifika represents every island nation in the Pacific.

The 2024 look takes inspiration from Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, Niue, Tokelau, the Cook Islands, and New Zealand.

The design features the bow of a canoe breaking water.
